Holmes Noble’s Roundtable Lunch – Senior Leadership in Key North West Markets

By Michelle Carson-Williams, Chief Executive and Founder 01/04/2016

The North West is a significant, expanding market for the UK economy. We are all aware of the Northern Powerhouse which is presenting billions of pounds worth of investment across a range of industries including; Advanced Manufacturing, Life Sciences, Creative and Digital Technology, Energy and Environment. In line with this, Holmes Noble has been supporting its clients in the North West by providing executive search services at the mid to senior management levels.

The roundtable lunch resulted in a lively debate, with the emergence of several key themes as follows:

  • George Osborne’s 2016 Budget announcement around Northern Transport investment is positive in terms of connecting talent across the region, however there is still some work to do around justifying why we are a ‘Northern Powerhouse’
  • Whilst there is a clear requirement to connect people to key employment hubs more effectively (HS3 will play an important role in this) we still need to prove that the Northern Powerhouse is a reality
  • Many of us who live in the North appreciate what a great place it is in terms of quality of life, etc. but how do we convince people outside that this is a fantastic place in which to build their career?
  • Ultimately, key to turning the Northern Powerhouse into reality is not its transport links but the development of successful businesses and people!

Holmes Noble locate and attract talent on behalf of their clients on an international scale.  With more ‘joined up’ communication and a streamlined approach, we all firmly agreed that the region has the strength and capability to be recognised on a global scale.

The event was hosted by the Holmes Noble team; Amy Speake, Partner and Michelle Carson-Williams, Chief Executive and Founder.
